Kids in the Biosphere: Bats Are Brilliant

Join the Biosphere to learn about Ontario's bat species! Together we'll build a bat house (one per family), play some bat games, and more!  Ages 8-12 Halloween costumes welcome!  One parent/guardian per family is welcome to join Bats are Brilliant. NOTE: Per Museum on Tower Hill COVID-19 protocols, anyone over the age of 12 will be required to show proof of vaccination status when they enter the venue. All participants are required to wear masks throughout the program. Activities will be set

Wildfire in the Georgian Bay Biosphere (Webinar)

The 2018 Key River wildfire burned over 11,000 hectares of the northern region of the Georgian Bay Biosphere including the French River Provincial Park. In this webinar, Professor Mike Waddington will share research by members of the McMaster Ecohydrology Lab on the impacts of the fire on the rock barrens ecosystems and habitat as well as an overview of the recovery of the landscape in the first three years following the fire. The 13 Moons (Webinar)

The Georgian Bay Biosphere welcomes back Waabkaniikwe for a cultural learning experience about the 13 Moons. Within Nishinaabe belief, there are 13 moons that are honoured. Each moon offers a time to reflect, look forward and guide our life. There will be an optional follow up discussion for participants to reflect on this learning on Friday December 10th, 10:00am.
