Generations Effect

Our New Consulting Service

On Wednesday, local MPP Graydon Smith met with the team at Georgian
Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere hear from them about the difference that a $92,500 Resilient Communities Fund grant awarded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) in 2022 has had. The grant was used to launch Generations Effect a new social enterprise that provides consulting services and invests its profits into causes aligned with the goal of the UNESCO Biosphere Region and its partners.

“The Georgian Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere is a local treasure that our government is proud to support,” said Graydon Smith, MPP Parry Sound-Muskoka. “I’m thrilled that these funds have been effective in helping the biosphere achieve its goal of scaling its social enterprise programming.”

In support of its mission, Georgian Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere has been providing consulting services that specialize in sustainable development and ecology. It saw a growing need for these services in the region. Thanks to the $92,500 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, it can consolidate and grow the impact of those services under the Generations Effect banner.

“This Ontario Trillium Foundation grant was the catalyst to launch a social enterprise that aligns with our values, creates good jobs in the region and supports healthier communities,” said Greg Mason, Director of Operations, Georgian Bay Biosphere. “This grant is allowing us to scale up services that build capacity and revenue streams in support of programming in the Biosphere Region. We’re excited to champion the social enterprise business model providing services that drive social change while sharing profits with like-minded organizations, so the people and environment can flourish. We also want to congratulate the Ontario Trillium Foundation on 40 years of providing grants to build vibrant and healthy communities across the province.”

Generations Effect provides consulting services to deliver sustainable solutions, and advances ecological, social and economic well-being by investing in the UNESCO Georgian Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere, its partners and related causes aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
