Ontario Sea Kayak Centre

By: Dympna Hayes

Spending so much of our time kayaking in the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve, we naturally have a great affinity for the plants, mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians we happen upon during our paddling adventures through the 30,000 islands.

Ontario Sea Kayak Centre is one of the biggest providers of the nationally certified Paddle Canada sea kayaking skills programs. We also coach kayakers in rolling and traditional Inuit kayaking skills. We train new kayaking instructors every year, and volunteer with Paddle Canada in every way we can.

Ontario Sea Kayak Centre loves to show paddlers the most pristine and magnificent places on our planet. Through our guided kayaking trips, paddlers experience core protected wildlife parks both nationally and internationally. We take kayakers to explore Senja Island in Norway, Saguenay Fjord in Quebec, Lake Superior Park in Ontario, Clayoquot Sound in British Columbia and the Loreto National Marine park on the Baja Peninsula.

Protecting the environment begins at home, and so actively supporting the GBBR through our membership, as well as through our fundraising activities is one of our mandates at Ontario Sea Kayak Centre. Our fundraising auctions at our spring Paddlepalooza Sea Kayak event and Women on the Water event in Parry Sound have raised thousands of dollars, as well as awareness, for the protection of our Biosphere. Through our connection to the paddling community, we will continue to advocate for the Georgian Bay Biosphere for many years to come.
